In Tanzania, Arusha, we had two South2South (S2S) Short Term Experts (STE’s) from Mwanza, Alex Kazeta and Eng. Malimi, to work on the implementation of asset management software.
As part of the South2South pilot, we started the exchange peer support between local water companies. Experts from our WOPs will occasionally be deployed for support. It is nice to see that this is experienced as interesting and fascinating. At the beginning of 2022, there were no Covid (travel) restrictions in Tanzania, so the exchange of local experts was ideal at that time. In the future, this exchange will take place more often. Read here the experience of Project Manager Jan-Kees de Visser and Local Project Coordinator Emmanuel Mwakasege.
In Tanzania, Arusha, we had two South2South (S2S) Short Term Experts (STE’s) from Mwanza, Alex Kazeta and Eng. Malimi, to work on the implementation of asset management software. The whole mission was organized and supervised by Emmanuel.
The mission
The mission focused on implementing the BOP asset management software in AUWSA and boosting Asset Management through the use of the software. The mission was set for two weeks whereby 2 STE’s from MWAUWASA (Eng. Alex Kazeta (Asset Management Expert under WWX) and Eng. Malimi (Operation Engineer from MWAUWASA) ) carried out the mission. It went successful somehow due to unavailability of AUWSA Staffs who had a lot of breakdowns by then. The good part is that the software was installed and from now on, the data collection is on progress.
The preparation
The preparation was good from the project team. The terms of references were prepared together with AUWSA technical department so as to take ownership of the mission. During the mission the team from Operation and Maintenance from AUWSA was available when they had a chance.
The outcome
Now, BOP has been installed and running, few staffs has been trained on the software and pilot register has been done. More registration was set to be done after the mission with AUWSA staffs for the remaining assets. AUWSA assets registration is on progress and there is a dedicated team to deal with the software.
